Dilip Guha, New Delhi : The Joint Puja Committee, Inderpuri, proudly marks the 39th year of Sri Sri Durga Puja in 2025—a journey that began as a humble community gathering and has blossomed into one of West Delhi’s most cherished Durga Puja celebrations.
Over nearly four decades, this puja has grown not just in scale but in spirit, becoming a vibrant confluence of devotion, artistry, and social harmony. It welcomes both Bengalis and non-Bengalis, weaving together diverse traditions into a shared tapestry of joy and reverence.

From the intricately crafted pandal and age-old rituals to the rhythmic beat of the dhak, every element evokes the essence of Durga Puja. It’s more than a festival—it’s a living expression of heritage, creativity, and community bonding that draws thousands of visitors each year.
At its core, Durga Puja at Inderpuri is more than a religious observance—it is a living tradition of togetherness, cultural pride, and intergenerational unity. As Dr. Bijoy Gupta, President of the Samity, emphasized, the festival stands as a testament to love, devotion, and the enduring spirit of community built over nearly four decades. His reflection highlights the importance of preserving heritage while encouraging the active involvement of the younger generation, ensuring the legacy continues with renewed energy. He said, “Our Durga Puja is not just a religious celebration, but a festival of togetherness. For 39 years, we have carried forward this tradition with love, devotion, and community spirit. It is heartening to see the younger generation take active participation in rituals and cultural activities, keeping the heritage alive. We warmly welcome everyone to join and make the celebrations grand.”

Sayon Das, General Secretary of the Puja community, further underlined the festival’s essence of social harmony and inclusiveness. His words speak to the Puja’s evolving nature, where rituals blend seamlessly with cultural expression and community engagement, making it accessible, dynamic, and relevant each year.
He said, “This festival reflects the cultural and social bonding of our community. The spirit of Durga Puja lies in inclusiveness, where rituals blend seamlessly with cultural programs and social engagement. Every year, we try to add new elements to keep the celebration vibrant. This year too, we look forward to large-scale participation and joyous festivities.”
Beyond its sacred rituals, Durga Puja at Inderpuri comes alive with a vibrant tapestry of community activities and cultural celebrations. Each day, devotees are welcomed with Bhog Prasad, fostering a spirit of shared feasting and togetherness. A variety of children’s competitions—including drawing, recitation, dance, and quizzes—nurture young talent and spark creativity. Families and youth play an active role throughout the celebrations, participating in volunteering, rituals, and cultural performances that strengthen communal bonds.

The festivities culminate in the Bijoya Sammilani, a heartfelt gathering where members and well-wishers come together to exchange greetings and enjoy a curated evening of performances. The evening cultural programs showcase the richness of Bengali heritage, featuring Rabindra Sangeet, folk and contemporary dance, Bengali music, and theatrical productions by both local and guest artists.
Adding a fresh and modern touch, youth-led segments bring vibrant energy through fusion music and contemporary expressions, while signature events like the Dhunuchi Naach and community singing infuse the air with festive spirit. On Bijoya Dashami, emotions run high as the community gathers for the Shobha Yatra and Sindoor Khela—a symbolic farewell to Goddess Durga that celebrates womanhood, devotion, and collective joy.
