Saraya News Desk ★ Guwahati : The All India Poetess Conference (AIPC) marked its Silver Jubilee International Mega Convention with grandeur and cultural unity at Don Bosco Institute in Guwahati, Assam. Poetesses from various states across India gathered under one roof to celebrate literature, creativity and the growing voice of women poets nationwide. The three-day event brought together distinguished writers, performers and literary scholars who contributed to a vibrant exchange of ideas and artistic expression.
The highlight of the concluding ceremony on 22 November 2025 was the prize distribution programme, where outstanding contributors to Indian literature were formally recognised for their work. Among the awardees, Ms. Falguni Chakraborty (Falguni Chakraborty) from Shillong, Meghalaya received special honour and appreciation. She was conferred with the prestigious Mehjabin Meena Kumari Award for her acclaimed book Naman, a work dedicated to the brave soldiers of India.
Speaking at the ceremony, one of the organisers said, ‘The Silver Jubilee celebration of AIPC is not only a literary milestone but a tribute to the poetic strength of women across India. Honouring Ms. Falguni Chakraborty reflects our commitment to recognising voices that speak for the nation, its values and its protectors.’
Accepting the award, Ms. Chakraborty expressed deep gratitude. ‘I am humbled to receive the Mehjabin Meena Kumari Award. My book Naman is a heartfelt tribute to the Indian soldiers who sacrifice their lives for our nation. Their courage inspired every word I wrote,’ she said. Her statement resonated with the audience, who applauded the emotional spirit behind her work.
The convention also featured cultural performances, poetry recitations and panel discussions on contemporary literature. Delegates praised the collaborative environment created by AIPC, which has been working for 25 years to uplift and empower women poets in India. Representatives from states such as Assam, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh participated actively, highlighting the linguistic and cultural diversity of Indian poetry.
AIPC officials emphasised that the Silver Jubilee year marks a significant achievement in the organisation’s journey. ‘We have always aimed to create a national platform for poetesses to share their creativity, identity and experiences. This year’s convention exceeded our expectations in scale and participation,’ an AIPC spokesperson said.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a commitment to continue nurturing India’s literary heritage. With awardees like Falguni Chakraborty bringing attention to national pride and sacrifice, the convention demonstrated once again that poetry remains a powerful medium to express patriotism, emotion and social consciousness.
