Celebrating the Spirit of Khadi: A Unique Exhibition by KVIC at India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024

New Delhi : The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) presented an immersive exhibition at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, New Delhi, offering visitors a captivating journey through the legacy, artistry, and contemporary evolution of Khadi.

Khadi, the hand-spun and hand-woven fabric, holds a significant place in India’s history and heritage. It has been a symbol of self-reliance and resistance during the freedom struggle, and today, it is being reimagined as an eco-friendly and fashionable textile. Supported by the government, KVIC has revitalized this traditional fabric, making it relevant in today’s global market. Through various initiatives, KVIC aims to enhance the livelihoods of artisans and weavers, ensuring that the legacy of Khadi continues to thrive in the modern era.

Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi, inaugurated the “MSME Pavilion” at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi.

 

 

The Union Minister announced that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is preparing to launch a new scheme soon aimed at promoting the ‘New Khadi of New India.’ This initiative will focus on restructuring the marketing and export of Khadi. The scheme will be designed specifically for the younger generation, targeting young entrepreneurs and fashion designers.

Khadi India Pavilion has been prepared in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India@2047’. Khadi India Pavilion has a participation of 225 nos. of exhibitors from various parts of the country. The stalls are set up for the participation of Khadi artisans through Khadi institutions, units established under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), and units established under the SFURTI Cluster from across the country showcasing the best handicrafts and Khadi and Village Industry products. The fair offered an opportunity to entrepreneurs engaged in the Khadi and village industry sector to showcase their products to a very large pool of potential customers and create new avenues for growth and self-reliance.

Visitors can observe the Desi Charkha, Peti Charkha, electric potter’s wheel, process of extracting Kachi Ghani oil, live demonstration of making Agarbatti (incense stick) and Dhupbatti (incense stick) prepared by recycling the flowers used for worship in the temples showcased in Khadi India Pavilion.

The Khadi Pavilion offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs engaged in the Khadi and village industry sector to showcase their products to a very large pool of potential customers and create new avenues for growth and self-reliance.
