Dilip Guha, New Delhi : The Ministry of Mines Pavilion at IITF 2025, Bharat Mandapam, drew significant attention as District Mineral Foundations (DMFs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) showcased a wide range of community development initiatives and locally crafted products supported through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in mining regions.
The pavilion has quickly emerged as a major attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the creativity and enterprise flourishing across India’s mining districts — from distinctive local produce to inspiring stories of innovation, skill development, and sustainability.
Earlier, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, inaugurated the pavilion and reviewed the exhibits. He noted that the initiatives on display reflect the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening India’s self-reliance in critical minerals and advancing the nation’s technological and industrial capabilities. The Minister observed how each organisation is leveraging new technologies, sustainable mining practices, and innovative solutions to support India’s development and strengthen the nation’s mineral ecosystem.
With its blend of innovation, technology, and engaging visitor experiences, the Mines Pavilion continues to be a highlight of IITF 2025.

A Unified Display of India’s Mining Strength
The pavilion features active participation from all Central Public Sector Enterprises under the Ministry of Mines — NALCO, HCL, GSI, MECL, JNARDDC, and NIRM — alongside major industry partners such as Hindalco Industries and Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL). Institutions like NFTDC (Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre) are also showcasing flagship initiatives, research breakthroughs, and pioneering innovations.
Collectively, these organisations reflect the depth and diversity of India’s mineral capabilities, spanning advanced exploration, metallurgical research, and sustainable mining solutions.
Focus on Critical Minerals and Sustainable Technologies
A key highlight of the pavilion is its emphasis on the National Critical Minerals Mission (NCMM) — a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening India’s critical minerals ecosystem. A special thematic zone curated by the Ministry features NFTDC’s advancements in the exploration, processing, and utilisation of critical and strategic minerals essential for clean energy, electronics, and industrial growth.
The pavilion also spotlights sustainable mining practices, advanced exploration tools, and digital innovation shaping the future of minerals and metals in India.
Immersive, Technology-Driven Visitor Experience
A standout feature of the pavilion is its Virtual Reality (VR) Zone, where visitors can engage with realistic simulations of underground mining, surface operations, geological modelling, and mine safety training. These immersive experiences offer students, researchers, and professionals a hands-on understanding of mining processes, risk mitigation, and technological innovations. Complementing the VR zone are large digital screens and interactive displays that showcase India’s mineral reserves, cutting-edge drilling and exploration techniques, breakthroughs in mineral processing, and initiatives for environmental restoration.
Visitors are engaging with VR-based mining simulations, digital mining technologies, and interactive knowledge zones. These immersive exhibits demonstrate how Indian mining entities are adopting new-age technologies such as:
• Drone-based geological surveys
• AI-enabled mineral exploration
• Green and eco-friendly mining technologies
• Sustainable mine rehabilitation techniques
• Digital mining and real-time monitoring systems
These displays highlight the Ministry’s sustained efforts to promote technology-enabled, eco-conscious mining and the responsible utilisation of India’s mineral wealth.
A Hub of Innovation, Policy, and Public Interaction
More than just an exhibition, the Ministry of Mines Pavilion serves as a dynamic knowledge hub that reflects India’s strategic commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat in the realm of critical minerals. It underscores the nation’s efforts in sustainable mining, environmental stewardship, indigenous technology development, and capacity building through community engagement. The pavilion also illustrates how India is modernising its mining value chain to align with global standards, enhance domestic manufacturing, and support the transition to clean energy.

Engaging the Next Generation
To inspire young visitors, the pavilion features interactive quizzes, learning modules, and dynamic displays that explain critical minerals, geological exploration processes, and sustainability-driven innovations. Students have been actively exploring the digital zones, gaining hands-on exposure to future-ready mining technologies.
Further, to foster interest among young minds, the pavilion includes a dedicated learning zone tailored for students and youth. This space features engaging quizzes on minerals, geology, and sustainability, alongside fun-based learning modules and career guidance in mining, geology, and materials science. Interactive 3D models of mines and mineral formations further enrich the experience, aiming to spark curiosity and inspire future careers in earth sciences, environmental sustainability, and engineering.
Spotlight on the National Critical Minerals Mission
At the heart of the Ministry of Mines Pavilion is the National Critical Minerals Mission — a flagship initiative dedicated to securing India’s long-term mineral security. The mission focuses on strategically vital resources such as lithium, rare earth elements, cobalt, nickel, copper, graphite, and platinum group metals. These minerals are indispensable for India’s aspirations in electric mobility, renewable energy, electronics manufacturing, defence applications, and advanced strategic technologies. Through interactive modules, the pavilion educates visitors on the global significance of critical minerals, India’s exploration roadmap, sustainable extraction practices, policy frameworks to accelerate domestic production, and international collaborations for strategic sourcing.
An Invitation to Discover India’s Mineral Future
The Ministry of Mines extends a warm invitation to all visitors of the India International Trade Fair — from industry experts and students to families and young innovators — to explore the pavilion and gain insights into India’s mineral strengths, technological advancements, and future-ready mining ecosystem. Blending tradition with innovation, the Mines Pavilion stands as a testament to India’s resolve to build a sustainable, self-reliant, and forward-looking mineral sector.
With its blend of innovation, community stories, and high-technology experiences, the Ministry of Mines Pavilion stands out as a vibrant reflection of the Government’s commitment to responsible, technology-driven, and sustainable mining — ensuring India’s mineral resources contribute to national growth while safeguarding the environment.
