The evening commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mr C. V. KameshGuru JayaprabhamanonMr Ravindra Mishra, and Mr Indrajeet Gover, followed by the felicitation of the distinguished guests by Mrs Doli Mukherjee Thakur.

The debut presentation, “Parampara“, presented by the students of DVIJA from the Gurgaon branch and Chittaranjan Park branch, showcased months of rigorous training under the guidance of Debasmita Thakur. Thoughtfully curated, the performance celebrated the timeless Guru–Shishya tradition through a repertoire that seamlessly blended technical precision with expressive artistry.

The programme opened with the sacred Guru Mantra, “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu,” invoking the blessings of the Guru—the eternal source of wisdom and knowledge. This was followed by Pushpanjali, a graceful offering of flowers to the Divine, the Guru, the accompanying musicians, and the audience, performed with reverence and humility.

The dancers then presented Alarippu, symbolising the awakening and blossoming of the body, mind, and spirit through rhythmic movement. The youngest students delighted the audience with Tatta Adavu, demonstrating the fundamental footwork, posture, balance, and coordination that form the bedrock of Bharatanatyam. Their confidence, synchronisation, and precision reflected the strong foundation and meticulous training imparted by the institution.

Shambhu Natanam

The programme continued with Jatiswaram, a pure Nritta composition that highlighted intricate rhythmic patterns, symmetry, and technical finesse. Shambhu Natanam, dedicated to Lord Nataraja, vividly portrayed the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva, celebrating his divine energy through dynamic choreography and expressive movement. The emotive Shabdam introduced the audience to the expressive dimension of Bharatanatyam, weaving together rhythm, music, and storytelling through graceful abhinaya. The devotional Meera Bhajan, “Gunjan Ban,” beautifully portrayed Meerabai’s unwavering love and complete surrender to Lord Krishna, leaving the audience deeply moved by its emotional intensity.

The recital culminated with the vibrant Tillana, characterised by brisk movements, intricate footwork, and exuberant energy, before concluding with the traditional Mangalam, seeking divine blessings and expressing gratitude to the Guru, musicians, and audience.
