DILIP GUHA ★ New Delhi : This Navratri, Delhi came alive with vibrant colours, music, and dance as the city hosted the Ultimate Dandiya Festival 2025, presented by the Delhi Government and Delhi Tourism. Held on September 27 and 28, the festival spanned two grand venues: the Rugby Sports Ground at Delhi University’s North Campus and the Football Ground at the Yamuna Sports Complex, Gate No. 4. The two-day extravaganza celebrated the spirit of Garba and Dandiya with a mix of traditional dance, Bollywood performances, food, crafts, and cultural festivities.

On September 27, the Rugby Sports Ground was transformed into a dazzling festive hub, drawing crowds of enthusiastic dancers dressed in traditional Gujarati attire. The venue echoed with the beats of Dandiya music, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration. The festival was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with Mr. Kapil Mishra, Minister of Tourism, in attendance as the special guest. Other dignitaries, including Mrs. Niharika Rai, Managing Director of Delhi Tourism, and Mr. D. Karthikeyan, General Manager of Delhi Tourism, were also present at the opening ceremony.
The main objective of the festival is to promote the rich tradition of traditional Indian folk dance, music, and celebration.

The festivities continued on September 28 at the Yamuna Sports Complex, which hosted an equally energetic and vibrant celebration. The event was once again inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, continuing the momentum of cultural unity and joy. Families, students, and tourists came together to dance, enjoy traditional food, and experience the rich heritage of Indian folk traditions.
The Dandiya Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in Gujarat and across India, eagerly awaited by the youth. People dress in their best traditional Gujarati attire to enjoy this dance form. The dance is performed with dandiyas in hand, swaying to the rhythm of the music, making it a truly captivating sight.
