The Indian textile industry has long been a cornerstone of the country’s economy, tradition, culture, and heritage. It is one of the largest employment-generating sectors, second only to agriculture, and plays a significant role in contributing to India’s GDP and export revenue. However, over the years, the industry has not reached its full potential, especially in the global market, due to various challenges. The Indian apparel industry, the most crucial part of the textile value chain, has struggled with cost competitiveness compared to some of the least developed and underdeveloped countries that benefit from tariff advantages in key markets. This has hindered the industry from realizing its true potential.
There was a crucial need for a comprehensive overhaul in the textile sector to align with global import patterns, addressed by the government’s PLI and PMMITRA initiatives. To enhance global branding, the sector aimed to highlight its strengths and integrate the value chain, coinciding with a more confident India ready to embrace entrepreneurial spirit. This led to the creation of Bharat Tex in 2024.
In a very short time, Bharat Tex emerged as a transformative platform driving innovation, collaboration, and global outreach. Bharat Tex 2025, the second edition of this flagship event, is set to continue this legacy and elevate India’s textiles sector to greater heights.
