Assam Pavilion Shines at 44th India International Trade Fair’ 2025

Dilip Guha ★ New Delhi : The Assam Pavilion emerged as a major attraction at the 44 India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 held at Pragati Maidam, Bharat Mandapam. It showcased a compelling combination of economic potential, cultural richness, and heritage under the IITF theme “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.” The pavilion featured 41 stalls representing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), innovative startups, and a diverse array of exhibits under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.

“Prominent government bodies—including Assam Tourism, AIDC, the Agriculture Department, NEDFi, and AGMC—actively participated in the event, showcasing a rich tapestry of Assam’s traditional craftsmanship, burgeoning industries, and robust institutional support.”

The pavilion also provided an immersive cultural experience, celebrating Assam’s deep-rooted heritage and historical legacy. Key highlights include UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Charaideo Maidam & Kaziranga.

Visitors were enthralled by live performances of traditional folk dances, most notably the exuberant Bihu and the elegant Bagarumba, which vividly embodied the region’s cultural vitality. Enhancing the spiritual ambience, the pavilion also featured the sacred Guru Asana, a profound symbol of Vaishnavite devotion that echoed the enduring legacy of Srimanta Sankardeva and Assam’s deep-rooted religious and cultural heritage.

Umesh Kumar, Director of the Assam Pavilion, said the presentation reflected a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, positioning Assam as “a hub of creativity, resilience and economic promise.”

The pavilion was formally inaugurated on Friday by Indira R Kalita, Secretary of the Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprise Departments, Government of Assam.

“Through its dynamic presentation of heritage and progress, the Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprise, Government of Assam, showcased the state as a land of creativity, resilience, and immense opportunity, leaving a lasting impression on visitors,” said a spokesperson.

The Trade Fair commenced on 14 November 2025 and will continue until 27 November 2025. Assam Day, to be celebrated on 20 November 2025, will highlight the state’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and artistic legacy.
