



Dilip Guha ★ New Delhi : Delhi Tourism celebrated World Tourism Day with great enthusiasm on Sunday the 29th Sept. 2024. On this occasion, the information centers of Delhi Tourism were decorated with flowers and all the tourists coming here were welcomed traditionally. Many programs were organized in Delhi Haats.
A seminar was organized on the occasion of World Tourism Day at FICCI Auditorium in Delhi in which many Tourism leaders participated. Our nation is a country of many heritages in which many domestic and foreign tourists come to visit. Many encouraging steps are being taken to promote tourism in Delhi so that every facility can be provided to the tourists coming from abroad.
The World Tourism Organization has been organizing World Tourism Day in the United Nations on 27 September since 1990. Through this day, the purpose is to promote the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic valuesin the international community. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Peace.
Smt. Niharika Rai, IAS Managing Director & CEO, Delhi Tourism addressed an important session with travel leaders of Japan promoting Tourism in Delhi at JATA Expo, Japan as per press released received from tourism dept.
Delhi Tourism also organized Heritage Walks for Yuva Tourism Club students at Mehrauli Archaeological Park and Lodhi Garden. On World Tourism Day, the Yuva Tourism Club students had the unique opportunity to delve into the city’s rich tapestry of history through Heritage Walks organized by Delhi Tourism. These walks, set in the backdrop of Mehrauli Archaeological Park and Lodhi Garden, offered a glimpse into the past that shapes the present.
The Heritage Walks were more than just educational tours; they were an immersive experience that allowed the students to connect with Delhi’s cultural heritage. It was an exercise in learning to appreciate the layers of history that lie beneath the surface of a modern metropolis. The walks underscored the importance of preserving such historical sites, which are not only architectural marvels but also repositories of collective memory.
As the sun set on World Tourism Day, the students left with a newfound appreciation for their city’s storied past and a reminder of the importance of heritage conservation. Delhi Tourism’s initiative highlighted the role of youth in carrying forward the legacy of preservation and the significance of such experiential learning in fostering a sense of pride and responsibility towards one’s heritage. Students enjoyed exploring these iconic locations, learning about Delhi’s rich heritage and culture.
